I'm past 60 and here I got my first liter bike. Although, it's no R1 I'm flabbergasted by the torquey motor and the speeds I can reach in seconds.

The seat is great but the the low clip-ons give a neck-breaking ride. I thought about a superbike handlebar but I can't ruin the bike's magnificient design. Who needs comfort on a road rocket?

I spotted it on a dealer's site on the Internet, paid a visit there and bought it right away. It's a 1991 model, the first FZR with upside-down fork. With 11'000 miles it looked almost like new.

Over Ascension-Day weekend 2004 I rode it north to Hannover and Arnhem in Holland. It proved as trusty as my other japanese bikes. Get up in the morning, hit the starter button and do your 500 miles.

'Himmelrich' means Heaven. You don't have to take that road. On a bike you're enjoying Heaven all the time.

Currently my favored tyres for the VFR and this bike are the Metzeler Z6 and the Michelin Pilot Road.

Bucheli Reparaturanleitung, Band 5133.

Nicht ganz Ernst nehmen kann ich die Bucheli Reparaturanleitung. Auf dem Titelblatt die letzte Ausführung der FZR von 1995, im Text befassen sich die Autoren mit dem Modell von 1989, ohne Upside-down Gabel.

Einen wesentlich besseren Eindruck hinterlässt das 'Repair Manual' von Haynes. Mit vielen Tipps und Tricks und farbigen Verdrahtungsschemas.

Nur so kann man vernünftig an der Maschine arbeiten. Wenn sie senkrecht steht kannst du auch den Oelstand überprüfen.
